Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information OrveTech Systems collects through orvetech.ca, why we collect it, who else handles it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It applies to this website only.

We collect as little as we can. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Information you give us

If you book a call, email us, or phone us, we receive what you choose to send. That normally means your name, email address, phone number, and whatever you tell us about your business and what you need built. We use it to reply, to prepare a quote, and to carry out work you hire us for.

Information collected automatically

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and move through it. It records things like the pages you view, roughly where you are (city level, from your IP address), the type of device and browser you use, and which site or search sent you here. It also records when someone taps a phone number, an email link, or a booking button, so we can tell which pages actually lead somewhere.

We use this in aggregate to decide what to write and what to fix. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not run advertising or remarketing pixels on this site.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies to tell repeat visits apart from new ones. You can block or delete them in your browser settings without losing any functionality here, since nothing on this site requires a login. Google also publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Analytics entirely, and most browsers offer a "do not track" or tracking-prevention setting.

Who else handles your information

We use a small number of service providers, each for one purpose:

• Vercel hosts this website and processes the ordinary server logs any web host keeps.
• Google Analytics provides the usage measurement described above.
• Cal.com runs the booking calendar. If you book a call, the details you enter go to Cal.com so the appointment can be created.
• Microsoft provides the email service behind our address, so email you send us is stored there.

Each of these acts on our instructions for that purpose only. We do not give your information to anyone else unless you ask us to, or unless we are legally required to.

Where your information is stored

The providers above operate servers outside Canada, including in the United States. That means your information may be stored or processed there, and while it is there it can be accessible to courts and law enforcement in that country under their laws. We are telling you this because Canadian privacy law expects us to, and because you should know it before you send us anything sensitive.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into work are deleted within about two years. If you become a client, we keep project and billing records for seven years, which is what Canadian tax rules require. Analytics data is retained by Google on a rolling basis and is not tied to your name.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent to us using it. Email info@orvetech.ca and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for this.

Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer do work you have asked for, and we cannot delete records we are legally required to keep, such as invoices. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy question, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Security

This site is served over HTTPS, and we limit access to enquiry and project information to the people who need it to do the work. No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, and you should not send us passwords or financial details by email.

Children

This site is aimed at business owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
